Key Fob Programming and Replacement
When the remote stops locking the doors, gets lost, or the case falls apart, what you need is key fob programming, not a trip to the dealer. We come to your car with the right remote for your year, make and model, program it on site and test every button: lock, unlock, trunk, panic and remote start where the car has it. Need an extra keyless remote for a second driver? We add it to the car and make sure the remotes you already have still work. Bought a fob online? Text us a photo first and we'll tell you honestly if it will work.
How the job goes
- 01
Text us a photo of your remote or key fob with the year, make and model of the car.
- 02
We confirm the right fob for your car and text you the price before we drive out.
- 03
At the car we check ID and ownership, then program the new fob and every remote you keep.
- 04
We test lock, unlock, trunk, panic and remote start, and all your remotes leave working.
What this covers
- Key fob replacement when a remote is lost, broken or dead
- Extra keyless remotes for a second driver
- Remote-head keys, with the key and the remote in one
- Flip keys and folding remotes
- Factory remote start buttons, when the car has them
- Fobs bought online, checked first by photo
- Key fob duplication: a copy of a fob that still works
- Keyless entry not working: we test the fob and the car before replacing anything
- Used car with unknown keys out there: old keys erased from the car's memory
- A remote that stopped working after a battery change
- Most makes: Ford, Toyota, Honda, Chevrolet, Nissan, Jeep and more
What changes the price
- The fob your car needs (remote only, remote-head key or smart key)
- The year, make and model
- Whether you supply the fob or we bring it
- How many remotes we program in the same visit
- Whether the car needs a security code to add a remote
Questions
How much does key fob programming cost?
It depends on the car and the fob. Text us the year, make and model and a photo of the remote, and we send you the exact price before we drive out. Programming a fob you already have costs less than us supplying a new one.
Can I program a key fob myself?
Some older cars allow a do-it-yourself button sequence for remotes. Most newer cars need a programming tool connected to the car, especially when the remote is built into the key. If the sequence doesn't work for you, we can program it at your car.
Will you program a key fob I bought online?
Often, yes. Online fobs vary a lot: some are used, already locked to another car, or on the wrong frequency. Text us a photo of the fob and its part number first, and we'll tell you if it will work before we drive out.
What is the difference between a key fob and a smart key?
A key fob, or keyless remote, locks and unlocks the doors with buttons. A smart key, also called a proximity key, also lets you start a push-to-start car while it stays in your pocket. Both have to be programmed to the car.
